Wai Ying Fastfood: A Binondo Food Stop

Back in College when my teammates and I used to go to Binondo to have our training at Manila Downtown YMCA, we usually have our after-training lunch on some of the budget food establishments in the area. One we are frequent is Wai Ying Fast Food.

Opened in 1999, Wai Ying Fast Food is one of the popular places for dim sum in Manila. Its name was taken from Josephine Chu’s Chinese name, Wai Ying’s owner. I have only been to one but I heard they have three branches. The image above is the Benavides branch.

Inside Wai Ying Fastfood

Upon entering inside, you would notice that the place is like a cafeteria. That’s no surprise, considering it’s a budget food stop. You could also smell some dishes, most probably the dim sum being warmed.

Before taking the stairs, these three cooks are all smiles when I pointed my lens to them.

A wide range of dim sum is available here, and Like many Chinese fast food, they have a variety of rice toppings and noodle dishes as well. Their menu is written in Chinese and English.

Here are some of the affordable Chinese dishes:

Last Thursday, I went out with fellow Couch Surfers. We toured Malacanang Museum and had our lunch at Wai Ying.

If you’re craving for good, affordable Chinese dishes and doesn’t care about the ambiance that much, Wai Ying Fast Food can give your stomach a run for your money.
